Christmas Shopping edition

Apparently every girl in the entire damn country wants a pair of these boots for Christmas, including my girlfriend. So much so that EVERYWHERE, including the brand’s site was completely sold out yesterday. Nordstrom had them super cheap, about half the price of retail, but their site said they were sold out everywhere. I tried Amazon, nothing. Found one pair in the right size on eBay, but by the time I logged in they were sold; it was a buy it now thing. I finally decided to just call the Nordstrom by me in a last ditch effort. The girl on the phone told me that it looked like there were only three left in the entire company/country and that she’d call to see if she could secure them for me. While wait in for the call back, I was already pretty defeated, I was talking wit my girlfriend and told her that those boots were pretty much impossible to get and asked if she could send me some other ideas. She was gratefull at how sweet I was to remember the boots she wanted, and told me not to be mad that I couldn’t find them for her. I didn’t tell her about calling Nordstrom. Later the girl from the store called back and said she had a pair that could be shipped here, and I got them at the sale price! #winning

To end on an automotive note, I also ordered myself some new camber plates! :)

‘Tis the season, right? Although I won’t be installing these, or any of my new suspension parts, until the next season arrives. Stupid winter.

Well done!

Wife just found a faux leather pair at TJ Maxx for $60. You can’t tell them from the good ones at five feet away. She reluctantly gave into the decade-long trend of wearing fake equestrian boots, which I would have hoped had died down by now, but is apparently just now reaching escape velocity. Bonus: She’s allergic to horses.

Yeah, my girlfriend is definitely big on name-brand stuff, although not stuck up about it. She just likes it. Thankfully the sale had these for half of what the retail is, and you know they’re still making a butt-ton on them.

Agreed, it is a stupid trend. Why can’t the original Pokemon just make a comeback?

Apparently so! And I know she’s gonna get me something pretty sweet, so the added bonus of upstaging her (especially since she definitely isn’t expecting these boots anymore) is going to be fantastic. haha

Understandable...my wife came from a pretty well-off family, so it took a long time to break the brand name habit. I’m completely in favor of name brand stuff for functional clothing (you can have my $80 North Face convertible hiking pants when you pry them from my cold, dead hands!), but for fashion stuff, we tend to consider it “disposable”...too often, quality stuff is so good, it outlasts the trend itself!

Completely agree. She’s from a pretty well-off family too. I’m also of the same mindset of paying for brand name functional clothing. My Patagonia down jacket is worth every penny I spent on it.

Did she ever try them on?

My girlfriend had a hard time with these style of boots because her being 5’4” meant many are too tall and end up poking her in the back of the knee.

Oh yeah. lol

Before my track day I was planning on building a CS competitive car for autocross. Now I’m way more oriented toward track day mods. haha It also helped that I managed to get some great deals on my wheels and coilovers. Although I’ll probably pick up some 17x9 RPF1s for track day/autox wheels next year, and just rock the Watanabes as dailies.
